Double Uni Knot

The double uni knot is used to connect two fishing lines together, commonly for joining braid to fluorocarbon or monofilament leaders.

How to Tie the Double Uni Knot

  1. Overlap the ends of the two lines so they run parallel to each other.
  2. Take the tag end of one line (Line A) and form a loop over both lines.
  3. Wrap the tag end of Line A around both lines and through the loop 5-7 times.
  4. Pull the tag end to snug the wraps down, forming the first uni knot. Do not fully tighten yet.
  5. Repeat the same process with the other line (Line B), forming a loop and wrapping it 5-7 times around both lines.
  6. Pull the second knot tight so both knots are formed on each line.
  7. Pull the standing lines in opposite directions so the two knots slide together and cinch.
  8. Trim both tag ends close to the knots.

Pro Tips

  • Great for connecting braid to fluorocarbon leaders.
  • Use more wraps (6-8) when tying braid.
  • Keep wraps neat and evenly spaced.
  • Wet the knot before tightening to reduce friction.
  • Make sure both knots are fully seated before trimming.
