Palomar knot step-by-step diagram

Written Steps

  1. Double about 6 inches of line and pass the loop through the eye of the hook.
  2. Tie a loose overhand knot with the doubled line, leaving a large loop open.
  3. Pass the hook or lure completely through that loop.
  4. Moisten the knot, then pull both standing line and tag end evenly to cinch.
  5. Seat the knot firmly at the eye and trim excess tag end.
